Disability Audits
What is a Disability Audit?
Y.O.Us Disability Audit looks at the physical access to any building. However, not only this, Y.O.Us disability audit will take any employer who engages with it on a journey examining areas such as transport to and from their building, lifts, stairs, hospitality and other areas ensuring that these are accessible for all.
What does a Disability Audit involve?
As mentioned above Y.O.Us Disability Audit begins with an assessment
of the physical access to an organisations building but then moves on to include other relevant areas. During the audit Y.O.U takes the employer through an extensive audit report which we work on together to enable Y.O.U to make the correct recommendations.
What does an employer/organisation gain from engaging with one of Y.O.Us Disability Audits?
As a result of learning from Y.O.Us expertise around disability any employer/organisation will have a unique opportunity to develop their knowledge around accessibility, ensuring they can employ a diverse workforce that includes disabled people.
Employers/organisations who participate in of Y.O.Us Audits will also be given an in depth Audit report with a visual to help them understand what recommendations have been made and suggestions of how to prioritise these. The visual will be provided in a red, amber, green system to make prioritising recommendations easier.
How long does one of Y.O.Us Disability Audits take and how much does it cost?
Both of these answers really depend on the size of the organisation in terms of the physical size and number of employees. However, it is unlikely that any audit will take any less than 3 hours. Regardless of the time it takes remember this disability audit will be an investment in your organisation and in your staff.
After the audit has been conducted Y.O.U will then provide the written report with a visual within a reasonable time frame agreed with the employer/organisation. For more information on costings please get in touch
What makes Y.O.Us disability audits different from those that other organisations conduct?
Our audits are authentic and based on lived experience of disability. They are not a "one and done" exercise. We will stay in contact even after the audit has been conducted and are happy to arrange a follow up between to discuss the recommendations made. We are also happy to be involved in supporting the implementation of the recommendations. However we also recognise that we may not always have the right knowledge and expertise to do this. Therefore we are happy to sign post you to the right organisations who can help.
