Y.O.U has been working with ENABLE Scotland since the later part of 2021. To date, Y.O.U has been invited along to speak at 3 of the family connect sessions that ENABLE Scotland run on a weekly basis on a Thursday evening.

The first of these sessions focused on Dr Danielle Farrel – Managing Director of Y.O.U sharing her lived experience of disability, the challenges she has faced with regards to this and how she has overcome them.

The second of these sessions focussed on Y.O.U’s services, work to date and how those who attended that particular session could engage with these services.

The third and most recent family connect session Y.O.U has delivered, focussed specifically on Person-Centred Planning and how this process is beneficial for not only young disabled people but disabled people of all ages, supporting them to look to the future and remove the barriers disability can often put upon them.

Y.O.U was also recently commissioned by ENABLE Scotland to produce a graphic as part of their 2022 annual conference and there ‘Key to Your Own Front Door’ campaign. In fulfilling this role Y.O.U produced an electronic graphic that illustrated the multiple things that need to be put in place from a young age for people with learning disabilities to enable them to live independently and to have a key to their own front door. This graphic will soon be available as part of a digital report produced relating to the conference.

Y.O.U and I also participated in a podcast focussing on Enable's 'Key To Your Own Front Door' campaign. In this podcast I shared my own challenges around obtaining accessible housing and the key to my own front door. You can listen to the podcast here

In July 2022 Y.O.U will deliver person-centred planning training to ENABLE SCOTLAND staff focussing on broadening their knowledge of the person-centred planning process and offering a new perspective of how a person-centred plan can be produced for a young person.

Y.O.U and ENABLE Scotland will be exploring other opportunities to work together in the future with the aim of broadening this new partnership.
